Initial consultation

An initial consultation lasts for roughly one hour and will involve taking a detailed medical history to get a complete picture of your health and lifestyle as well as the chance for you to discuss your health concerns in depth and ask questions.

As a medical herbalist, Flora has trained extensively in clinical and diagnostic skills and may on occasion take blood pressure or do a physical examination if appropriate and the patient is comfortable.
​
​After the initial consultation, an individual herbal prescription, usually in the form of a tincture, tea or topical cream/balm, will be dispensed and you will be sent your own unique treatment plan with advice about nutrition and lifestyle.
​
Where possible herbs used in medicine are organic and grown in the UK from trusted suppliers.

Follow-ups
After an initial consultation, most patients will visit again after 4 weeks for a follow-up.
A follow-up lasts for roughly half an hour to 45 minutes and is a chance for you to report on progress and for prescription adjustments to be made if necessary.
How long follow-ups are repeated will be subjective to the complexity of the condition and health needs. Follow-ups can be repeated for as long as desired.
​In some cases, patients can arrange repeat prescriptions by telephone or email.
​
Herbal medicine can require patience and commitment but can provide long-term benefits for those who choose to work with it.
Where do the consultations take place?
All consultations take place by arrangement in a private therapy room of a health centre in Nailsworth or Cheltenham.
